Very nice interview. Robert Smith does understand French completely! I am sure he can speak French fairly well as well.
I found that remark about make-up ("2000 years of tradition..") interesting as well. This goes in my favourites.

he was the joker of this TVshow. but he knows a lot of things about many bands (he doesn't look like ..) and that Cure have changed many time of staff. and he asked to RS why the Rolling Stones bassist quits The Cure... Stupid joke !!
