Or maybe it is. My understanding of the concept has been waning ever since Alanis Morissette made that song.

I haven't made a video in a while, and I'm not going to apologize for that, but I suppose I should give a word of explanation:

because.

No, just kidding. The reality of the matter is that over the past however-long-it's-been, I've gotten fired up enough to make a video once or twice, but then realized I'd already MADE the perfect video to articulate my point, and all I had to do was share the link with the offending party.

Perhaps this summer it will happen in a new way. If so or if not, I'm still hoping to pull together a larger project I've been taking clips for during the past 2 years. It's about time.

I HAVE, however, been regularly producing content of the comic variety. Did you know?

The book I'm reading:

Off The Grid by Nick Rosen

Some of my favorite quotes from said book:

"Perhaps unconsciously we all choose our lives at an early age; our later actions are just ways of playing out the earlier choice." N. Rosen

"Even if you are committed to living in the city, you should be fundamentally conscious of it. Where does your water go, where has your food come from? It seems like we don't want to know these things; they are too difficult to face." - Von Pat

"The economic and social structure of North America today is succeeding beautifully in producing non-thinking, incapable people — the perfect candidate to be the mindless consumer who doesn't even see who they are or what they are doing." - I think this was Nick Rosen, but it wasn't clear in the text.

  • Hi!

Would you mind me asking where you went to Grad School? I love your description of the program and want to switch Grad programs.

    Thanks so much,

    Kimberly

  • @soniccaffeine hey Kimberly: where did you see my description? The grad school I went to was Goddard College, and I attended the MFA Interdisciplinary Art program. Tweet at me (same username) and I'll give you my email address so we can discuss things further.

  • I especially appreciate the irony that that power station is operated by National Grid.

  • @HeBreaksLate I appreciate that you appreciate that.

  • You're looking extra gorgeous.

  • @AlannahSH aw, thank you! :D

  • ROFL! This is now a classic! ;D

  • Emily! This is very cute! Did you ad the hum to the video? Are you going to SPX this weekend? More videos please! If you come to MoCCA, then we must meet.

  • Yay! A vid from Emily! :D

  • hmm.. ironic.

  • @DigitalCable I've always thought that, if given 10,000 spoons, I would be able to make at least one knife (depending on the material of the spoons and the availability of a heat source).

  • ...I haven't seen your face in so long...It was lovely to see.

The irony I'm catching is in an age of technology powered by electricity, you choose to be using a non-electronic form of reading (as opposed to a Kindle or Ipad) titled "Off the Grid" which I also find very apropos.
