In this segment from www.artistshousemusic of a panel discussion on artist management presented at Loyola University, New Orleans in 2008, music industry veterans Gary Gersh and Steve Rabolvsky assess the current fashion for so-called 360 deals from the labels perspective, whether such deals make business sense for labels, and whether they are fair to the artist.

videos like this should have millions of views. i spent 2,000 on books alone just researching the music business. no 360 deals for me. i want control and i rather grind my way up and learn the steps.

As in Live Nation? Companies that are huge in the live entertainment business i.e. concerts, tours, etc.? It seems like 360 deals wouldn't be that bad only if everyone that's getting a percentage of revenue is putting in 100% and not sitting on their asses with skepticism. You get out what you put in, and that goes for everyone from the artist to the label.
