There are a few other clips from this broadcast up here, but not this one. Great rendition of this tune from a great performance.

  • Looking for another Pat Metheny song here on YT (don't know the name, but I'm sure I'll find it) I ran across this gem. In fact, this song was my introduction to Pat when I'd hear it on a jazz station while living in San Antonio, TX during my Air Force days back in 1980. Haven't heard this in years! You can't go wrong with Pat. All his music is simply beautiful, almost other worldly. But because this was the first song I heard of his, it will always be my sentimental favorite.

  • @ilovegoodsax I agree. The Way Up was a great one from a couple years back.

  • Thanks for all the requests for posting more from this set. Most of it is already on YouTube. Just search for Unkle Pos and you should find them.

  • Awesome music, man! Thanks for posting! Who all are the musicians in the band? I know who Pat Metheny is, but who is on bass guitar, keyboard and drums?

  • @Seattlecarnut Mark Egan on bass, Danny Gottlieb on drums, and Lyle Mays on keys. Lyle Mays is still in the Pat Metheny Group, but Danny Gottlieb and Mark Egan do solo/sideman work these days.

  • Thanks and please post whatever else you have from this broadcast!

  • There are a few other clips up here from this show. If you search for Metheny Hamburg 1980 you should be able to find them. I will be posting some more, though.

  • Thankyou tremendously for bringing back great memories of blasting this album through my bic speakers back in '79! I played this tune on my gibson 'johnny smith" guitar along with the record ,and I did not know of the existence of this video which shows Pat and the'boys' at their high mastery and love of music.

You have no idea of my gratitude!

  • ouch!

  • Man, Uncle Poe's looks like an interesting place. It's not there anymore, is it? If it were, I'd go.

  • thanxs for posting... this reminds me to my "hedays" Onkel Pö's.... Hamburg...

the "Star Club" of the eighties... open mineded to Jazz....had no chance to enjoy PMG during this period. So great to listen to this gem.

    Thanxs again

You envy me, then. Those shows were incomparable. Then things got ponderous and weighed down by technology and "influences."

    Sad but true.

The Way Up, though, was a step in the right direction after twenty years of Group mail-ins.

  • Who needs anti-depressants when you have Pat Metheny and Co. and their music full of life, positivity, and melodic wonder? I only need put on songs such as this and the day - and life - is fantastic. Thx for posting, cashberg! Love this concert series from Hamburg.

  • @cashberg I think one of the best albums ever done. =)

  • I envy those that got to see the group in the 70's early 80's

  • Thanks for posting!

  • WOW. Awesome musicians. I agree with HuLiXD - you fly with this music. Beautiful.
