Kainevan Productions
Timefreeze Headshot camera-move
Actor: Warren Bluck
VFX/Camera: Kaine van riel

Made using, 3DS Max, Realflow, After effects, Syntheyes.

Problems: My actor also blinks and his hand quivers slightly, aside from these problems during filming the only issue I had regarding vfx was the blood spatter texture for the realflow mesh, (The texture doesn't refract light as much as it should, thus appearing to be solid rather than liquid.)

Method:
1.) Shoot footage
2.) Matchmove footage in syntheyes & Simulate spatter in realflow)
3.) import co-ordinates into 3DSMax
4.)Render multiple passes, eg...
-Muzzle flash core
-muzzle flash fireball
-alpha mattes for spatter
-realflow blood spatter
-plane blood spatter
-plane muzzle flash glows
-entry wound
-exit wound
-exit wound blood stains
(DOF, Z-Depth, Beauty, Specular, Reflections, Refractions)
5.) Composite the whole thing in AE.
6.) Finished

I may make a tutorial is people request it, otherwise i won't bother.

  • This is nice as an example for all you budding directors and vfx sups. leave room for what isnt there, in this case, the hero of the shot is at the corner of the screen. And for tv work, it must be in hd 4:3 action safe for movies, well, the more on screen the better. nice work tho.

  • can you PLEASE!!!! do a tutorial!!!!!!!

  • O MAN!! this shot could've been SO GOOD! i mean it was cool..but could've been MORE cool ;) such as a more smooth shot from a dolly system for your camera. then add more elements like smoke, skin/gore debris, better lighting on your face, also a more disturbing look on your face actually would've completed this shot. instead its just a neutral expression (realistic) but for a fake vfx video, a more opened eyed yelling face with a scared look would've been by far cooler :) but anywho good work :)

  • Tutorial would be amazing dude. It looks fantastic.

  • fricken amazing!

  • looks awesome

  • 0:03 Augen bewegen sich

  • @NilsenPhotography it's an illusion it never moves!!

  • Watch his eye at 0:03 it moves! :) But other than that, great job :)

  • Absolutely amazing.
