The Sea Launch Zenit-3SL vehicle, carrying the NSS-8 satellite, experienced an anomaly and explode today during launch operations. Sea Launch will establish a Failure Review Oversight Board to determine the root cause of this anomaly.

  • If you launch from the equator you need less energy to reach geo-stationary orbit at 24K km. Btw this is the lowest cost per lbs. to orbit system, based on Russian engines and US assembly.

  • Love how they cut the tranmission...all they needed after that was the classic tv test pattern. Ha! Ha!
