Yine mi çiçek
Sezen Aksu-Cihan Okan
Music: Ara Dinkjian
Lyric:Meral Okay

Kur masayı Madam Despina
Kirli beyaz muşamba örtüleri ser
Çek sediri asmanın altına
Yanında bir ince Müzeyyen abla

Yine mi güzeliz, yine mi çiçek?
Hamdolsun
Taze mi bitti topik
Canın sağolsun
Amanın yine mi güzeliz, yine mi çiçek?
Hamdolsun
Altınbaş kadehe yağ gibi dolsun

Gece çok genç, arzular şelale
Haber etsek o yare
Gelse Bomonti'den
Şereflendirse bizi
Olsak teyyare

Yine mi güzeliz, yine mi çiçek?
Hamdolsun
Taze mi bitti topik
Canın sağolsun
Amanın yine mi güzeliz, yine mi çiçek?
Hamdolsun
Altınbaş kadehe yağ gibi dolsun

Translation;

it's very hard, nearly impossible to translate that song in another language. it contains metaphors and linguistic expressions of Turkish language, which can't be translated so easily. otherwise it would lose its whole sense and intention.

(This song is a bit about istanbul in 50's and a kind of longing and nostalgia for those years also..then usually none-muslim people ran pubs which called "meyhane" .Madam Despina is a symbolic name for that reason..)

My best attempt to translate;

Prepare the table Madam Despina
Spread those off -white color lineaum table cloths on it.
Set up our sit , under grapevines (shade)
Along with elegant Muzeyyen sister (it meant songs of Muzeyyen Senar ; artist for Turkish classical music )

Are we pretty again, again flower?(Are we in good mood and happy)
Thank God (we are grateful)..
Are we out of that appetizer (topik)
That's okay! (no problem)
Let our drink fills our glasses like a oil

Night is still young, our desires are like waterfall.
let our loved one know that; (we would love to invite her)
Maybe she would come from Bomonti(district in Istanbul) and give honor to our table
We would be like airplane( flying in the air from happiness)
