I disagree that that the greek word Apostle Paul uses "Arsenokoitai" lacks a consensus of meaning among reputable Bible scholars. I recommend the debate here on YT with Dr, Michael Brown & Harry Knox .Read Matt 19 and Mark 10. Paul wrote in the first century addressing an entire panoply of SPIRITUAL conditions. Paul had numerous terms to address the sins & ills of his day so your argument begs the question of why he chose THAT word. Also see the work of clinical psychologist Stanton Jones

@shieldsff LOL @birthdefect. we still can go on with this argument but it will not change my mind. over the years of praying the gay way didnt work because I found out why he didnt heal me, he didnt heal me because there is nothing wrong with me. we came so far from slavery(which paul endorsed it) and interacial relationships. now i know that someday christian churches will accept and tolerate people like me. and my last statement is this. God dont make mistakes, people do. created in his image!

OK, thanks. And yeah, again, I understand that no one can teach you anything so I offer those to others as well. But to you, again, I cannot concede your assertion that one is 'born' gay which is complete conjecture. Assuming that it were true, would you even concede that having been born so, it constitutes a type of 'birth defect'. Further, assuming this were a congenital defect, are you saying you would consent to curing it if possible. No association between skin pigment & biological gender

@saunei - Again, I fully understand that I cannot teach you anything, but to everyone else I recommend the debate here on youtube with Dr, Michael Brown and Harry Knox . Read Matt 19 and Mark 10
OBVIOUSLY, Paul did not write the epistles in the 2nd century, but in the first century addressing an entire panoply of condition & circumstances. Had Paul intended to single out pederasts he could have used the technical term paiderastïs. Also see the work of clinical psychologist Stanton Jones

@shieldsff cool ill look him up. i like a challenge. and for the record, homosexuality is not a sin because you were born that way. I didnt choose to have black hair and brown eyes. or If someone is born black and they want to white, you can put makeup or bleach yourself until you look like michael jackson but deep down you are still black. its who you are. so build a bridge and get over it.

ooow-weeeee- I'm so glad you know that word ! Where did you study koine greek? You do know that in other passages this word is paired w/ 'malakois'. Since YOU introduced this word, would you like to explain now to everyone WHY Paul used this particular word since there were a number of other greek words (INCLUDING PEDERAST) at his disposal ? Of course, it is not 'homosexual' per se (since this is a modern term). I can't tell U anything, but to others check out the Dr. Michael Brown debate
-
@shieldsff If he had, he would have used the word "paiderasste." That was the standard Greek term at the time for sexual behavior between males. We can conclude that he probably meant something different than people who engaged in male-male adult sexual behavior. Some scholars think probably the second century use might come closest to Paul's intention. If so, there is no justification for translating the word as "homosexuals."
-
@shieldsff Paul uses the word "Arsenokoitai", which is not found in any extant Greek writings until the second century when it apparently means "pederast", a corrupter of boys, and again in the sixth century when it is used for husbands practicing anal intercourse with their wives. "Arsenokoitai" is made up of two parts: "arsen" means "man"; "koitai" means "beds." Although the word in English Bibles is interpreted as referring to homosexuals, its not the same homosexuals as today!
