This time, I had problems to find a suitable name for the tutorial. I call it cinematic zoom because you often see that technique in films, especially in horrorfilms. It's a very short and simple tutorial this time, but I hope it is something new for you anyway.

  • (It's called a vertigo shot, just so everyone knows)

  • Ah cool thanks. Didn't know it actually has a name.

  • Thank you so much! I am working on a video and I needed this! SUBSCRIBED!

  • Very very neat. I've been wondering about this for a while now. Thank you VERY much for the cool tutorial, Nion. You're really awesome!

  • Excellent tutorial, I will defiantly be using this. If You have any more techniques please post them.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, the effect is great.

  • thanks learned a another thing today!

  • I think tho official name on this kind of zoom is zool.

Because to get this effect in real life the camera must rool and zoom at the same time.

  • Good tutorial. I did the same effect in Blender some months ago but couldn't be bothered by manually matching the zoom to the camera movement, so I wrote a python script for it.

You can find it on BlenderArtists by doing a search for "dolly zoom", the thread is called "How to acheive a dolly zoom effect". (sorry, can't directly link to it)

  • That shot can also be called a Zolly shot (zoom/dolly)

  • I remember it in vertigo....they actually used an horizontal maquette for all those shots that look like vertical arbogast shots

  • cool, nice tutorial
