Anna Chan:
Amnesty International, Free Burma, trade unionists and ordinary citizens turned out to show their solidarity with the people of Tibet on Wednesday. Let's go to our team in New Zealand for the story.
Protestors are calling on the New Zealand Government to drop the free trade deal with China, in light of the dire situation in Tibet.
Unionist Joe Carolan says most New Zealanders are disgusted that Prime Minister Helen Clark will sign the trade deal in two weeks time.
[Joe Carolan, Migrant Workers Union]:
"I am disgusted that our so called Labour Party leader is taking the side of money and profit, and thinks money and profit is more important than the blood and the human rights and the workers' rights for the people of Tibet and the people of China."
Free Tibet national president Thuten Kesang is deeply concerned for his people in Tibet.
[Thuten Kesang, Free Tibet]:
"In other words we are asking the New Zealand Government to do something."
Auckland City Councilor Dr Cathy Casey has never supported a free trade deal with China.
[Dr Cathy Casey, Auckland City Councilor]:
"I am here because of the gross abuse of human rights that China is perpetrating in Burma, and in Tibet and in China itself."
The New Zealand Government remains relatively quiet on the Tibetan issue, while hoping to become the first developed nation to establish a free trade agreement with China.
This is Sarah Matheson, NTD Auckland, New Zealand.

I have been to Tibet and have been to China and to India. The opression in Tibet was very obvious and was deeply saddening (2004). I have many friends who have spent many days walking over the Himalayas to freedom. These are poor nomads or monks who never had a chance for education within Tibet outside of 're-education' by the chinese communist government people. Why don't you take a page from your own book and read about the history of Tibet from the Tibetan perspective?

Too bad there is no enough information available in English on Tibet. The world are fooled by Western media and people who flee from Tibet. Those who flee from Tibet not because no human rights, it's because they were afraid that they would lose their privilege as a slave owner(5% of Tibetans). They are terrified that the slaves(95% of Tibatans) they used to brutally treated stands up. Poor slaves didn't have the money to escape to anywhere only those who have the power and money-Slave owners
