Cowgirls ride to town for a wild west showdown finale with outlaws.[Continues]
Cowgirls For Justice was like assembling an old jigsaw puzzle that's missing pieces. I have great affection for the old B Western, but very few defied convention. When it came to women, Roy Rogers summed it up with the classic line: "I'll stick to horses, mister".
Yup, women were frequently allowed to dress like action figures with hats, holsters and horses, but rarely invited to the obligatory shootin' shindigs. The cowgirl that rides her horse into the saloon to gleefully shoot it out with the bad guys was a rare, but wonderfully rousing exception to the very rigid formula. How 'bout a big hand for that lil' lady!
Producers of international Westerns have been a little more adventurous in this regard (One of my favorite movie scenes is a Mexican cowgirl shooting a saloon to smithereens). A few notable gender-bending exceptions (i.e. Bad Girls) have been produced over the last two decades, but these have been way too heavy-handed and self-conscious for my taste, concentrating more on angst then action. Also, and thankfully, producers of early live-action video games placed the gun-toting cowgirl in some equal opportunity escapades.
I attempted to stick to clip footage, that if not strictly public domain, is out of wide circulation, or known to anyone except die-hard collectors and old Western movie buffs.
Again, my thanks to the owner of WantedCowgirls.com for sharing some outtake footage from some of his projects, and just as importantly, for sharing his knowledge of the genre, and introducing me to very obscure and terrifically entertaining movies. While the web site has been inactive over the past year, I hope to see it re-launch in the not too distant future.
Part of the fun is being able to distinguish the new clips from the old clips. The real fun comes from trying to guess the actresses who appeared in the old clips and what movies these were taken from. As a senior FrontrowKid, I can spot some of them: Jennifer Holt, Evelyn Finley, Nancy Gates, Nell O'Day. I didn't see Dale Evans or Gail (Annie Oakley) Davis or a well known western actgress.

@MrFrontrowkid I can't spot Evelyn Finley myself here. I did make it a point to avoid the best known cowgirl actresses from the era, in an effort to avoid distractions from the action. I did intend to rework a scene though, where Roy actually shoots Dale!..but I couldn't locate the film in time for this.
I also had some reservations about using the recent KJ Wilburn footage for this (although I know he got a kick out of it) and I'm a little sorry now I didn't save it for something else.

this is great I do believe some of those clips come from a video game bounty hunter and the other girl who dies at 652 is from a game too I would love to know which one
It's great stuff and i hope you do a part four.

@mrpuniverse2 I don't remember all the bits and pieces of this thing (I had a stack of discs up to the ceiling), but I'm pretty sure that bit comes from FD showdown as well...Anyway, glad you enjoyed it.!
