I have tested Inkscape's Calligraphy tool with my Intuos3 Wacom tablet.
This is an exercise that I have recorded with VirtualDub.
The advantage of erasing and rearranging the letters is very useful.
Only a couple of brushes can be saved and cannot be deleted later so preference files have to be switched for more brushes to be saved and switched.
This is not a tutorial or my best work, It is just an exercise but comments are welcomed.

  • so nice ^^ You could make your own calligraphy fonts with this probably?...

  • @mekkabon

    Yes. I already tried.

Check it out on "dafont.com" search for Manualito (sounds spanish) on the site.

The font is free for personal use.

    Thanks

  • Do you work with ink and paper as well?

Also, did you correct yourself just to show the power of Inkscape, or were they actual mistakes?

  • @benjamingeiger

    Thank you for your comment.

Yes, I do write with ink and paper.

The correction was good to show the power / possibilities of Inkscape.

They were not mistakes, yet I felt it was better to adjust them.

There are thinks that can ruin a calligraphy work and they can be adjusted in Inkscape.

  • Hy i really don't wanna be a pain is the @ss, but can i ask for these brush preferences as well? (=

    thank you

  • @somoskoi

Sorry, I don't know which one was used here. It was some time ago. It may be one of the saved brushes with some tremor added for fun, but not saved.

Anyway, you can play with the tremor setting and you'll get some similar results.

Something similar (but not this) was this:

    width="41" mass="11" wiggle="5" angle="45" thinning="5" tremor="32" flatness="100" cap_rounding="0" usepressure="1" tracebackground="0" usetilt="0" name="12 tremor ok"

  • Wow makes calligraphy a cinch!

  • Hi @rdx558,

I use a digital graphic tablet and Inkscape. That's all.

My tablet is a Wacom Intuos 3, A6 wide size.

Because it's USB, I can use it at home, at school and at work.

It needs some practice but it's a very good device.

Depending on its features so are the prices.

Small size is enough for me.

I hope it helps you. Good luck.
