The post-colonial state in Africa has a dismal record of providing justice, economic opportunity and social welfare to its citizens and is widely unpopular. Why then has it hung on so tenaciously for so long? Ebenezer Obadare, assistant professor of sociology at KU, studies the numerous factors involved in this question. He will also present a lecture regarding his research on the topic Oct. 16 at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
