Animation of our own Milky Way galaxy colliding with Andromeda. This will happen about 3 billion years from now. You can download the original video from: http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/seuforum/animations/animations/galaxycollision.mpg

  • actually void between galaxies is full of stars, just star density is a lot lower than what you'd find in a large galaxy...

with in milky way neighborhood you have around 27 smaller galaxies and as many nebula clouds (star forming regions).

True, your night sky would be bit boring, as nearest star would be 300-500 light-years away but you'd have all that space to yourself LOL.

  • Imagine being an inhabitant of a planet circling one of the stars that was cast out into intergalactic space after the collision. There may be an intelligent being somewhere who, looking at the night sky, sees not a single star....

its the speculation that draws a crowd (and money) towards billions of highly sophisticated sets of algorithms placed in such a way as to require a sense of awe from anyone with eyes. Computer graphics are the 'in' thing now, but behind the scenes is a very complicated practice that require highly disciplined minds. But I like cartoons too =D

  • Is it going to hurt daddy?

  • When will these "learned" and highly esteemed "scientists" stop making animations built on nothing but speculation. This should be on a cartoon channel.

  • awesome

  • I mean, this is love!

  • Wunderschön !!
