  • I have the same exact laptop, I took out the 2 256mb sticks and put in 2 512 mb sticks but now its not reading the ram I insert in the A dimm slot? Any suggestions? 

  • @danny6996 make sure that dell says that it will support those sticks of ram and also make sure that your BIOS is up to date.

  • @lorddarphyve. Both sticks work and per dell.com, the PC can handle 2 1GB sticks. So I guess that leaves the bios, is it a patch from dell or do I go into the bios at startup and manually adjust something?

  • @danny6996 updating the BIOS can be tricky. Check the how to files on Dell's website.

  • a really good idea is to do a static discharge before...or your ram is toast. This little bit of information is lacking in this video.

  • @kindafar ESD is a potential problem wile handling PCB boards but neither I now any of the dozens of people I know that work on computers have ever has an issue with it.

  • There is more than one RAM module in my dell inspiron 710m, which is supposed to be located under the keyboard, When I remove the keyboard, I can't find it
