this is perhaps the most assured method of germinating apple and pear seeds i have come across, and the best part is it works, with minimal effort! as i say in the video, take damp paper towels and wrap or fold the seeds into the paper towel lightly, and put it in either a ziplock baggie or a container. i like the container because i wont break the roots by accident. it has happened before Q_Q but theres zero reduced effect from the baggies. once youve done that, place them in the fridge, and wait (patiently, theres no need to check on them for at least 2 weeks, i know youll want to, but theres nothing to see yet)

  • I wounder if apple seed from the grocery store will work

  • @mogges1 thats where i got mine. though there is a minor danger that they've been hybridized so often the seeds wont grow. but thats usually not an issue

  • How would I plant them? They have roots like yours, would I plant it with the root tip down?

  • @PokeCineplex the seed itself should be barely covered by soil

  • @PokeCineplex with the root covered below it

  • can you please make updates on your trees and do i put one seed in one pot for it to grow or two !?!?!

  • @THEnickvassalloSHOW my seedlings got eaten by my cat unfortunately, so i cant exactly do updates. ill be starting a new batch in mid-march. grow one per pot.

  • Great explaination! You should try Alder too. It's nearly the same method, use damp paper cloths to germinate them (not in fridge) and after one or two weeks they have roots coming out.

I've germinated mine in October/November 2011 and now they are about 4cm high, ready to go outside in a month or so.

  • @mogges1 yeah it's te same thing

  • @PokeCineplex yes
