This song is written by MacDonald and Carroll. And recorded by Hal "Lone" Pine and his Mountaineers with Betty Cody.
Laurel and Hardy sings it as a duet in their movie "Way Out West".
I play it on a vintage Harmony parlor guitar from the 1920's.

  • That was great ! Nice guitarting!

  • @MacGirvan Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

  • you play guitar like if you have concrete in your hands, loosen up my man, loosen up!

  • @tambore78 Thanks for your comment. I will try to do so. Can you tell me how? Or maybe make a video where you show me how it should be done by an expert guitarplayer like yourself? I think my wrist moves very fluently and it feels very loose. But I MUST be doing something wrong since you point it out. You probably have extensive knowledge about loose wrists.

  • Beautiful harmonies. Love that melody. Can you do shine on harvest moon as well? One of my favourites. Check out my version.

  • It is a song from 1908, and the story is form a novel by the same name, and later in the 30's a film was made with henry Fonda in one of the leading parts. It was the first movie made outdoors and filmed in technicolor from Paramount. The film went by the same title as well.

And Harvest moon. I know the song, and I like the melody. Do you have any chords for it?

  • Very nice played and sung. I love this song and I really enjoyed listening to you.

  • r810s.... Actually my first reaction upon hearing this bit was: ah.... here's one of the few recordings on you tube with just singer and guitar back up wherein the guitar player actually keeps good steady rhythm. I have been a professional musician and teacher most of my life and have encountered every variation on the theme, so please don't let your deal go down. I read the referred to book as a young teen in about 1953, but this is a first for hearing the song. Thanks.

  • i can't tell you how to play guitar, but you are playing like a statue. i'm not focusing on your wrists alone... you clearly put the video up so people can see you play guitar for entertainment purposes. loosen up a bit, that's all i'm saying. stop playing guitar like a robot and put some feeling into it.

  • Ok interesting. I love laurel and hardy and the music in their films. The chords are: G-F#7-G-Bm-E-E-E-A7-D
