Swine Flu: A Beijing resident gets frustrated with Metropark Hotel officials

Day 4:

A Beijing resident tries to find information about the Putonghua briefing session but is unable to obtain any answers.

After the English briefing session, the Putonghua guests (who make up over half of those quarantine) were informed that a Putonghua session would be held for them, since many of them didn't understand what was going on.

However, no briefing was ever held. Hope people can sympathize with their frustration as they tried to get answers to their questions, but were constantly met with 'I dont know".

I'm sure you too would get quite upset if you couldn't get answers on what would be done with your plane tickets, visa, etc

香港以前是國際城市(回歸後就不是了), 官方一切都以英文為準, 才會有此習慣. 但是, 為甚麼你們不在英語簡報會要求官員即場翻譯, 而事後找個小職員出氣呢? 香港人只會覺得你們野蠻呢!? 我們稱呼這類為大陸人. 不要誤會, 大家都是中國人, 不是說來自中國的也是大陸人, 他們只是受到革命核輻射影響, 每遇上狀況, 必將對方鬥死為止^)^

I think the problem is that a notice was given to all hotel guests that there is FIRST a English meeting... and then LATER a Putonghua meeting. So maybe many Putonghua guests didn't go to English meeting, and just wait for Putonghua meeting later.

But the meeting never happened...

大家唔使o甘激，我都是香港人，但係如果有關方面真係開完英文b­riefing，無再用中文-普通話交待，但客人中又以内地客居­多，o甘就有問題，起碼都搵個識普通話的人同d客交待下至o岩。

你被人困住，又唔知會點，心情煩躁可以理解。如果你在西班牙，發­生同樣的事情，一句英文傳譯都無，我睇大家d反應都會差不多。
