  • @Doug41160 according to a blog by Ed Silverman who read the first bulletins then appeared on camera with Ron Cochran, the fourth bulletin was taped. Three previous bulletins were not. The only video sources of the first bulletins are CBS & wfaa in Dallas. CBS was taping the live broadcast of "As the World Turns" for broadcast on the west coast. WFAA was recording already because of the Dallas visit.

  • 1:40 THE REPORTER DOESN'T KNOW THE NAME OF THE HOSPITAL WHERE THE PRESIDENT WAS TAKEN NOR HIS CONDITION BUT HE SOMEHOW WAS TOLD HOW MANY SHOTS WERE FIRED! LOL!

  • i believe that ABC taped only the second interruption to Father Knows Best. i'm led to believe that an earlier one was NOT taped. Fortunately, some one at ABC finally woke up to the fact that they should start taping this for historical significance.

  • @MALCBAGGIE yes, amazing.. but ABC didn't have much of a news dept then... I think even later the policy was with the networks to just interupt with bulletins until they had film or more details... I thought a soap would be running in the afternoon instead of a Father's Knows Best rerun...hmmm , need my Chooz

  • @joesmoe71 Even today with the wound he received, Kennedy would have died, the damage was far too severe. Not to mention there are reports he was also shot in the head on the left side, a result of muliple shooters, not the "lone nut" Oswald who shot no one, and was indeed, as he said, a patsy...JFK the last GREAT president, doing what was best not only for the American people, but the people of the entire world. Working for human rights, peace, freedom, and monetary and fiscal responsiblity

  • @howardkevinm Have you seen the hospital photos of the wound? I highly doubt he could have survived whether it happened then or now, and if he somehow could have been kept alive he would have been essentially brain dead and it wouldn't have really mattered.

  • with their primative medicine he didnt have a chance in hell. he would have survived if he was shot today.

  • Incredible - The President was shot and twitter was down? Fail whale!

  • @lwmson You are right, they were unprofessional. But keep in mind that ABC as a network in those days struggled for programming and respect, with a much smaller budget than CBS or NBC had. And news coverage in those days had technological obstacles to overcome, such as cameras that needed to warm up, no instant feeds, and basic satellite technology. ABC was always a distant third to the other networks back then, but especially in terms of their news coverage.
