I've been wanting to try swinging with a whip for a couple years now and I finally had the time to build a whip that would do the job. In this video I use a cowhide bullwhip that I put together with parachute cord running down the center of it all the way to a 5' long, 3/4" wide latigo fall. After some experimenting I found that the fall had to wrap the branch at least twice to make swinging possible. The parachute cord in the center adds strength, and it also takes out any stretch that whip made entirely from leather might have. The parachute cord is then tied to the fall along with the regular fall hitches done with the cowhide overlay.

So, for anyone wanting to try this, just know that I built this whip specifically for this trick. So, if you try this and break your whip, don't blame me, but be sure to post of video of you falling as you'll probably make it on Tosh.O ;-)

On another note, you'll notice that I don't release the whip until I swing back to the starting position. Only a couple times while messing around did I get the whip to come down after swinging across, otherwise it's easier to get the whip down after swinging back.

  • Cool, but impractical. The whip dosn't look like it is very good for cracking:(

  • @Delongis46 Of course it's impractical! However, I'd say this whip still cracks better than any JRZJoe whip.

  • adam thats impressive how heavy is the whip

  • @protectoroffaith it's pretty heavy

  • Okay Adam, you're now Indiana Jones with a heavy-ass whip. All you need now is a Taurus 980! Better grab a sombrero while you're at it!

  • I guess Mythbusters wont need to waste an hour on that one. Adam just answered it in 1minute 7 seconds.

  • When I get a house in the forest, I'm gonna get one of these and just keep swinging

  • So, I'm guessing you could seriously maim someone with that thing. Think you could fend off an attacker with it? Because of some personal issues, I've been thinking of learning some self defense techniques. I'm kinda leaning towards the whip because...well obviously nothing says kickass more than a whip, right? How many years until I could train enough to defend myself? 6? 7?

  • do you sell your own whips man??this looks like a really cool thing to get into and id like to buy a decent whip for around 60-80 dollars is that even possible??i know on ebay i see alot of them going for like 220+

  • That is very, very cool! You could have dubbed some Indiana Jones music in the background for that one!

  • @2244113322441133 because it wouldnt be thick and stiff enough to crack with

  • How did it stay so easily

  • why didnt you make it out of just paracord

  • 2 dislikes???? WHAT IS NOT TO LIKE HERE PEOPLE?!! Awesome whipwork from Adam as usual, and I for one, enjoyed seeing this feat accomplished with a purpose built whip.
