University assignment. Made with Adobe After Effects CS4

I've never used this software before, so it is really nothing more than a learning experience.

Text and concept adapted from Mark Danielewski's "House of Leaves". Music is "Hallways of Always" by Ulver.

  • This is really wonderful and well done! Did you have to type all of the text before animating?

  • @99DarkWolf99 Thanks mate. God no!!!! Haha, might've typed a few things here and there but for the huge blocks of text I used some text recognition software (possibly contained within Adobe Acrobat I can't remember) on a scanned pdf version of the book. Copy + paste, very easy :)

  • really nice typography. what school do you attend?

  • @xsjado5 Thanks mate! University of New South Wales' College of Fine Arts studying the Bachelor of Digital Media

  • I don't know if whomever posted a link to this on facebook is the creator so I'll comment here as well. I LOVE this!

It would set it over the top if some of Poe's music were used! Like the last 1:48 to a remaining 0:30 or so of "Wild"!! Fits pretty well I think.

I've never used After Effects. Just Premiere Pro & Final Cut. I may just have to try it out after seeing something like this come out of it. It goes without saying that Windows Movie Maker SUCKS!

I like to call it Windows Puny Maker!

  • @B4seline18

Thanks for the love :) I've never heard poe's music before unfortunately- nor have I posted this on facebook in a very long time so I'm really glad people like it

I had never used After Effects or any post processing software for that matter prior, just some experience with Flash from a few years earlier... haven't touched it since either I'm sad to say.. but you should!

  • This is amazing!!! I love you so much for doing this!! You sir, win all of the medals!

  • This was absolutely amazing.

  • That was damn amazing.

  • amazing!

  • I just creamed myself.

  • You have done well.

  • Why doesn't this have a million views? This is bloody brilliant.

You really captured the essence of the book (the mixed up text, the x's, that blue box, etc. etc.), and it really gave a theme of shifting and moving and overall confusion, just like the book portrays.

  • THE BEST EVER!
