I like the layers you added in, it reminds me very much of John Lennon, like the plastic Ono band explorations and some other ethereal elements can't think of who right now..not comparing him to you..but in style vein I mean.. Very compelling song!

Luke, I'm mostly a humble classical guitar player and so I never had the need for any fancy recording/mixing as I play for my own enjoyment and occasionally for family and friends that are kind enough to put up with me. But I hear, here on YouTube, loads of very well produced music, and most of the time it's all done in one's bedroom. I am not able to suggest any specific instructional material, but checking up any of the reputable forums on-line should be a good start.

Whats your approach to singing, E.g. do you search for different ways of using your voice?

I try to picture something emotionally charged, preferably in a pleasurable way, and that energy comes through. Other than that, I keep my back straight, I take deep breaths using my diaphragm, and I try to keep in relaxed dancing motion.

Really great song!
as to comment bellow if you have each channel on a different frequency the textures will come out more. the more you layer up the more important that becomes. but on this song especially I kind of like the live effect like its playing live in an other room around the corner while some movie or story plot going on even though I don't see it I can imagine it =)

Dear Luke,
I really wish for you to improve your recording/mixing technique. And yes, I do know recording gear does not come cheap... I know all that. Your style is so unique; your music is quite textured, in a very good way. I often find myself squinting just trying to hear better certain details. Unfortunately everything comes out very flat, and the reverb doesn't help much either. Please don't be offended! I just feel that I don't get enough from something that I actually like.

Ya, I honestly wish I knew more about how to make a really nice recording setup/how to better mix the parts. I do appreciate the constructive criticism, I can tell you're coming from a good place. Is there any book (or other resource) you would recommend on how to better produce music?
