Ask yourself, as an honest seeker of the Truth, which of itself is unbiased, whether or not the accounts of the Bible 'could' have their basis in scientific fact? This question, as all questions do, has an answer & in this particular case, one that has already become known to some through great analysis. We now have the same opportunity, to investigate this & all other Biblical accounts of history for ourselves, so that what is fact & will always remain fact, can better our understanding & that of those who are also seeking the Truth.

"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Have a Great Day & remain watchful of the many significant events unfolding across the Earth. =)

1 Samuel 17

David and Goliath - Story Summary:

The Philistine army had gathered for war against Israel. The two armies faced each other, camped for battle on opposite sides of a steep valley. A Philistine giant measuring over nine feet tall and wearing full armor came out each day for forty days, mocking and challenging the Israelites to fight. His name was Goliath. Saul, the King of Israel, and the whole army were terrified of Goliath.

One day David, the youngest son of Jesse, was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of his brothers. David was probably just a young teenager at the time. While there, David heard Goliath shouting his daily defiance and he saw the great fear stirred within the men of Israel. David responded, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God?"

So David volunteered to fight Goliath. It took some persuasion, but King Saul finally agreed to let David fight against the giant. Dressed in his simple tunic, carrying his shepherd's staff, slingshot and a pouch full of stones, David approached Goliath. The giant cursed at him, hurling threats and insults.

David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied ... today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air ... and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel ... it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands."

As Goliath moved in for the kill, David reached into his bag and slung one of his stones at Goliath's head. Finding a hole in the armor, the stone sank into the giant's forehead and he fell face down on the ground. David then took Goliath's sword, killed him and then cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. So the Israelites pursued, chasing and killing them and plundering their camp.

Points of Interest from the Story:

• Why did they wait forty days to begin the battle? Probably for several reasons. Everyone was afraid of Goliath. He seemed invincible. Not even King Saul, the tallest man in Israel, had stepped out to fight. Also, the sides of the valley were very steep. Whoever made the first move would have a strong disadvantage and probably suffer great loss. Both sides were waiting for the other to attack first.

• David chose not to wear the King's armor because it felt cumbersome and unfamiliar. David was comfortable with his simple slingshot, a weapon he was skilled at using. God will use the unique skills he's already placed in your hands, so don't worry about "wearing the King's armor." Just be yourself and use the familiar gifts and talents God has given you. He will work miracles through you.

• David's faith in God caused him to look at the giant from a different perspective. Goliath was merely a mortal man defying an all-powerful God. David looked at the battle from God's point of view. If we look at giant problems and impossible situations from God's perspective, we realize that God will fight for us and with us. When we put things in proper perspective, we see more clearly and we can fight more effectively.

• When the giant criticized, insulted and threatened, David didn't stop or even waver. Everyone else cowered in fear, but David ran to the battle. He knew that action needed to be taken. David did the right thing in spite of discouraging insults and fearful threats. Only God's opinion mattered to David.

  • Is it true that Goliath was a Nephilim or was he and his brother just really big?

  • @mcap52 Great question my friend. If we hope to understand God's 'mighty' plan, past, present & still unfolding, we must study Satan's past, present & unfolding efforts. The nephilim played a large role in the reason for the flood, as God knew & still knows the deepest thoughts & plans of all, even his most disobedient creation. Their past influence has fueled much of the present deception, especially by those who are helping to decieve God's people & bring the Antichrist to power quickly.

  • @mcap52 Here is one great resource (link) I recently came across, which shows where the Nephilim & 'Sons of God' are mentioned in God's Biblical Word, what is said about their size & history, as well as Goliath's ties to the Nephilim, as well as a few others. Never forget that searching for the Truth is important, but how you seek it out, is what makes it worth while. Always reference God's word first & then seek out the other sources, testing every spirit along the way. God Bless you my Friend!

  • David didn't kill Goliath when he hit him with the stone. He stunned him, then SLEW him by cutting off his head. These idiots need to read the text. Also who cares if it's scientifically accurate. It was a miracle wrought by God, not man's invention.

  • @coolvideo28 the first bow and arrow was found 61.000 years ago

  • @coolvideo28 I know that! I just said it has a finite speed, it can't go faster than 299,792,458 m/s in a vacuum and it has been proven. Massive objects warp space to slow and distort time, but we can measure that. And we just can't see that far. Neither you or I were at the beginning of time and our observations can only show closer to the first few microseconds after the Big Bang. There is a difference in saying we can't see what caused it and saying nothing caused it. No one said the later.

  • @DamienZshadow Again you cant start with nothing then pick what you want to be there by making it up, then call it Science. Everyone knows were everything came from, We all know God Created everything alot of people dont want to do what God says so they are fighting to stay in denial and Failing miserably. You need to study light more recent studies found the speed of light changes slows down speeds up etc. You need to study alot of this stuff before we can have a conversation about it.

  • @coolvideo28 Once again, no scientist has EVER said that the universe came from nothing. No one knows where it came from yet. And yes, there is evidence for inflation. All galaxies are accelerating away from every other galaxy because the universe is expanding and has been. If we look deeper into space we look back in time because light travels at a finite speed. We then see the images of a smaller and hotter universe the further back we look. What does a planet's rotation have to do with that?

  • @DamienZshadow You cant start with nothing then say Nothing made what you want to apear then take those things you want then say it all magicaly exploded for no reason then call it Science. There is No evidence of the universe expanding from a single point, but the Bible tells us its expanding. backwards spining planets prove big bang is impossible. You believe nonsense they tell you with No proof then, dont believe in a Creator. In a lab chosing any circumstances they want they cant prove evol.

  • @coolvideo28 Also, I think you're misinterpreting the Big Bang Inflation theory. It doesn't say all matter came from nothing. It only talks about what happened after matter was already there. Now what happened before is still an unanswered question, not God. We just don't know yet, there's no shame in admitting you don't know something. There is, however, observable evidence for a universe expanding from a single point and fusing Hydrogen into heavier elements and seeding it through supernova.

  • @coolvideo28 No, I don't think I ever said I believe anything like that. I'm just saying, if you believe all that literally, then why would your God leave evidence for an Earth that's 4 billion years old and stars that are older than the Sun when he says the opposite in Genesis. Also, it would be impossible for two of any species to reproduce enough to create a stable gene pool. Then again, since everything is possible with God, he just used magic, right?

  • @DamienZshadow Yes the History in the Bible is just that history they are fact. God created everything in 6 days. You can believe in the truth our Creator or you can believe in evol. were Nothing magicaly turned into all matter the size of a pen tip then magicaly exploded and for no reason at all a soup formed & mutated into you and me over billions of years lol.
