We had our first snow of the season, followed by a ice storm that left 300,000 homes without power. We are very thankful for the last year of preparing for unexpected emergencies. It is not too late to start prepping.

  • Glad too see your doing alright and able to help out those that are less prepared brother. Take care.

  • @minbound Yeah, we're good. We were making calls to all our friends and fam today that we could think of to offer a place to get out of the cold and dark. Thanks for stoppin by Min.

  • this just makes me think on how little i have and how much more that i need to do.

  • @thewolfsong We were hoping that this would encourage people to step up there prepping where possible. Things went from fun to dangerous in a matter of hours. I can imagine there were no generators, snow shovels, or propane at the hardware stores. And based on the report from our friends who were unfortunate enough to wander into the grocery store, people were clearing shelves of just about everything.

  • It's the 24th and still no power here. (federal way)

luckily I'm pretty well prepared .... I do miss my hot shower though!

oddly I have cable and internet... got the generator running the freezers and a couple heaters intermittently. Probably not getting power back till Thursday (a full week) :(

  • As long as you survive it was an adventure not a diaster. Good video. :-)

  • Gads! It looks like my front yard. I lost the top out of my Chinese Cherry-Plum tree from the weight of ice. I hope to save it . I'm in P-S area too.

  • A perfect example for all of them knuckle heads out there that don't realize why it's important to have prepped goods at home. I hope that this too will wake up folks. This ain't no joke, if it's not a iced winter storm it could be a black out from a storm. Thanks for showing...

  • @PrepPro2717 living in alaska i can see that kind of ice storm hitting us and has but not as bad (the closest help we would have is 8 hrs away/1 hr away if they are able to fly in to fairbasks). And we would be in a world of hurt if all the stores where cleaned out like the stores in the town your friends live in

  • Fair the well. I went through it in '09. Had 21 days without power and holes in my roof from trees falling on them. Ice is unique in that as destructive as it is it is simultaneously beautyful. Take care and let the warm up do the work for you. Keep your storm drains open and your head covered!

  • That is coming my way tonight. It is a good feeling knowing you don't have to worry. Be Safe Brother
