An odd thing I found, in a sample of gutter water; a bunch of Euglenas gathered into a cluster, motionless.

  As I watched, one of them seemed to come to life, and began moving.

  In this video, if you watch carefully, you can catch some motion of this Euglena's flagella to the left end of this Euglena.

  60× objective, 15× eyepiece; numbered ticks are 20 µM apart.
