Chapter 25


Patrick rose his fist in the air and his fist collided with Demi's cheek. Demi cried out in hysterical pain and held her cheek as she sobbed. Patrick slapped her across the face, reopening her once split lip from one of Selena's friends.

Demi was confused on what she had done. She'd done nothing but be home about 15-20 minutes late because her truck wouldn't start. She'd really wished Joe would've worked on it or else she wouldn't be in this position.

She felt bad for what she did to Joe. But she was getting strangely too close to Joe. She couldn't let that happen. Too much for her. Too much lying and pretending would drive her nuts. She just needs to be alone. That's how its suppose to be and that's how it always will be.

Patrick lifted Demi from the ground by her arm. Demi bit her lip, hiding the yelp that urged to come out her vocal chords. He need her in her lower abdomen making Demi let out an ear deafening scream.

"Shut the fuck up!" He yelled, suddenly the two were silenced by a knock on the door. Demi turned her head towards the door. Help. Right there. But she wouldn't. Her dad cupped her hand over her mouth. "Not a word, yelp, or cry. Got it?" He spoke through clenched teeth. Demi nodded, tears falling.

As he walked away to answer the door, Demi felt her cheek throbbing. She had to bite her tongue trying not to scream. "Hi, Is Demi there?" Demi knew that voice. The voice she now craved.

"Joe..." She whispered but it wasn't in ear shot.

"I'm sorry, Demi's not here at the moment." Patrick said. "I'll tell her you stopped by. She's out with her Mom."

"Oh okay, I guess I'll talk to her tomorrow or something." Joe said as Patrick nodded.

Demi needed to see him, she needed to talk to him, she needed to see his eyes. The beautiful almond shaped eyes. Demi attempted to get up, but her stomach and ribs were throbbing. A small movement was all it took.
All it took to accidentally let out a pain-filled scream was one movement.

Joe was about to leave until he heard the scream. He turned back. "Demi?" He called out, Patrick quickly slammed the door and Joe pounded on the door as hard he could. "Demi! Demi! OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!" He hollered as it began to rain.

"You fucking bitch!" Patrick yelled, Demi let out fearful sob.

"I---I didn't m-mean t-to." Demi apologized. "Don't. Please." She begged. He clenched his fists and moved towards her. Demi wanted to pin herself against the wall and become small but she couldn't. The pain wouldn't let her move.

Patrick rose his fist in the air once again, his arm could collide with her face anytime. 'I'm going to die...' Demi thought. Demi began to count in her head, '1...2...3...'

Joe was determined to get inside, he wasn't going to stop. He leaned his forehead on the door. Was that Demi? Did she make that scream? He kept hearing the door slamming in his mind, screw the door, he kept hearing Demi's scream in his mind...it was a lot like the one in his dream. Identical.

He pounded on the door harder and harder. He needed to know what was going on and what made demi scream. "OPEN THE DOOR!" He yelled again.
