EE VISIT JULY 2000 Stowe is the name shared by an ancient village, country house and school (Stowe School) in Buckinghamshire in England. It is situated about two miles north-northeast of Buckingham. The breathtaking landscape gardens, including its many monuments, were acquired by the National Trust in 1990 and are open to the public. The National Trust are currently overseeing a complete restoration program of the grounds, temples and follies. The Village Originally the village of Stowe was built in the Anglo Saxon period. Its name refers to an ancient holy place of some eminence with the local community. The village remained in place up until 1712 when the 31 houses of the village were demolished to make way for the extensive gardens of the manor house. Stowe House In the early 17th century, the manor of Stowe was completely rebuilt by Sir Richard Temple, from the old medieval stronghold to what is now the core of the impressive mansion for which the area is known today. Having been redesigned and perfected subsequently over the years, the whole front is now 916 feet in length and is a breathtaking sight as you approach from the direction of Buckingham. Hi There, it sounds like you did not like the School? It must be a School for Toffs!!
I have not yet visited Stowe House, to see where, it is said that my Ancestors once lived.
As mentioned in my last statement.
I expect that you must have had, a very good education whilst at Stowe School?
Due to the very high fees that they charge.
I like the videos of Stowe House and grounds.
I will go there when I have the chance.
I hope that your chain has now broken?

@SensaiMan I lived there once too. I spent five years there chained to a wall, force fed Latin, Maths and Physics. On 4 afternoons a week I was let out to play rugby just like my Father and Uncle before me..

This is a very nice video Don, I hope to go their one day.
It is said that one of my ancestors lived there, a Hester Sandys (Sanders) she is on my Grandmothers side of the family. She married Sir Thomas Temple.
I would like to do further investgations into this so far, I have located a Sanders family Bible that records the Children, and marriages but I just need to tie up the loose ends.
Thank you for a great insite into Stowe House.
