Yeah the GSXR is a fantastic starter bike.  Just don't let your age show on the bike, I'm 19 aswell and It is hard sometimes.

Your dirt bike experience will help a lot. But, these bikes are a different beast... don't be fooled. If you are looking for a first bike just to upgrade a summer or two later, I'd recommend a Katana (GSXF600). They aren't as powerful, but still look awesome and are a blast to ride. It'll just help keep you from killing yourself. And, they're cheaper on insurance. I started on one thinking of it as a disposable bike and still have it 8 years later...

heads up on getting a sportbike at 19, im getting a k8 gsxr600 and i got quoted at like 313.00 a month as the cheapest quote i have gotten and that was from progressive.
