Vagrant Story Boss: GIANT ENEMY CRAB!

GIANT ENEMY CRAB!!! Thank goodness I got advice from the GIANT ENEMY CRAB expert or I would have lost!

GIANT ENEMY CRAB is similar to our friend, Mr. Wyvern. He has an annoying combination of good defense and good evasion. His lowest elemental resistance is against Air and his second lowest is against Fire. Because you won't have any Air affinity gems or Luft Fusion (which the boss drops), you're probably going to have to settle for Fire by putting a Salamander Ruby into your weapon.

GIANT ENEMY CRAB has two weak points for you to target for massive damage. Either crack open its claws with a blunt weapon and suck out the delicious crab meat, or shish-kabob it by jamming a piercing weapon into its mouth.

I personally wouldn't go for the piercing option. The mouth will often block chain attacks and it's the body part with the highest evasion. Normally, low accuracy can be overcome with a Braveheart gem, but you're probably going to need that Salamander Ruby for damage. Yeah, I would stay away from piercing weapons unless the weapon is already Air or Fire, so you can afford to put in a Braveheart. I recommend the blunt option simply because the claws are easier to hit and can actually be chained. It's also possible to go after the legs with a blunt weapon - they'll take less damage but are easier to hit.

GIANT ENEMY CRAB has two special attacks - Aqua Bubble and Tidal Rush. Aqua Bubble = Water version of the Dragon's Thermal Breath or the Wyvern's Fire Breath, a distance-only attack that hits five times for massive damage. Just get up in his grill and he won't be able to use it. Tidal Rush = Water version of the Dragon's Tail Attack. You can reduce damage from these attacks by putting an Undine Jasper into your shield.

people tend to complain about the complexity of the game, but that is if don't use de berserker approach: hit everything with whatever you have in your hands!! is the way I played the game and I enjoy it MASSIVELY

Man, I didn't get to finish this game as a kid. A couple years ago I started a new game on psp and I loved it. I was thinking this game was so close to being a masterpiece. And then I walked to the next room and I was like, the masterpiece is complete. Now...where is its weak point!?!?
