Not to mention the fact that there would be 2 Clarks, and if he had saved her that way the Clark of the original time line wouldn't have to do it, thus causing a paradox (sp), and probably destory the universe. If you see the Donner cut of Superman 2 it's the same thing.

Quantum mechanics, that's one reason time travel is impossible except for moving forward. The affects of moving backward would alter the neurons and synapses of your brain. You may be in the past but you would alter your future and, ergo, drive yourself insane because your organic body would be unable to tell the difference from now and then. Also it's just a movie.
