See Doug dance.
See Doug dance to Tex-Mex, rock, country and polka music.
Vote for the "Dancin' Doug" you like best in the "Dancin' Doug does Waterfront" video at my blog at blogs.e-rockford.com/askgeo/.
The Doug referred to above? Rockford Ald. Doug Mark, R-3, whose district includes downtown Rockford, the place where the 25th On the Waterfront music festival will take place on Labor Day weekend. Last year, 70,048 festival passes were sold.
Why is he dancing?
A. To get you pumped up for the big festival, which features more than 100 performers on seven stages.
B. Because he can. Mark is president of the Rockford Dance Company and has performed many years in the group's annual holiday "The Nutcracker" ballet.
C. Because the video represents a "right-back-at-ya" effort. Mark couldn't cha-cha and twist well enough with Alice Barr to win the ultimate audience approval at the July "Dancing with the TV Divas" fundraiser for the Burpee Museum of Natural History. State Sen. Dave Syverson and Kimberly Nelson beat Mark and Barr, as well as one other politician/reporter combo, State Rep. Dave Winters and Laura Gibbs. So "Dancin' Doug does Waterfront" offers Mark a reprieve of sorts.
