They look pretty free to me. No one stopped them.
The problem with this world is that people have rebelled against God and established their own self-righteous standards. They are enemies of God through their sins and they are trying to make their own self righteous deeds outweigh their evil behavior, but they are rejecting God's forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Jesus will return soon as King of Kings and there won't be any peace in this world until He does.
