You should leave the wood on the ground while you do that to make sure you don't burn yourself!

The trick is to wear sunglasses when you do it. I used to do that alot. Looking at the focal point when you tilt the lense to give you that pinhead of light to burn things is just like looking at the sun. It will hurt your eyes. So wear sunglasses. For me the most satisfying thing was burning brown leaves. hehehe. Okay so I was 12 at the time.

@Naddycat I am sure most think you are nuts. When you talk about the relaxing aspect of it. I know precisely what you mean. Oh...from one person to another who loves this. Want to have some real fun? Here is a trick. The darker an item is...the easier it will burn. Dark absorbs heat and light while white or light colors tend's to repel it. You got that out of an old tv. Find a piece of black plastic and use it. Watching the plastic melt through is fun. First thing I did was melt my name JON.

@DarkGallahad That is a cool idea, I never thought about burning something dark. My solar oven is all lined with dark slate and a black cast iron crockpot that absorbs so much heat. Thanks for the tip!
