March 12, 2008: NS SD40-2 3430 with a 5-chime RRO Leslie horn, leads 94M, an empty tie train heading to Enola, with NS GP38-2 5000 in the rear. 94M makes an unexpected stop right in front of me, MW guys showed up in their trucks and inspected the car carrying the CAT grappler. Listen to that great idle action! SD40-2's sound amazing! So does the horn! Then the train powers up and continues its move into the sunset, enjoy!

  • Forgive me, but that doesn't sound like an RS5T, unless one or two of the bells (trumpets) are fouled.

  • At least two are fouled.

  • thats a ex conrail correct?

  • NS SD40-2 3430: exCR SD40-2 6967 (rebuilt from SD40): neeKCS/PacRail SD40 613.

  • Nothing better than the smooth, throaty roar of an SD40-2!

  • EMDs idling is such a relaxing noise..great to put on & chill out to

  • One of my favorite locos of all time - the GP38-2 hight hood.

  • Nice.

  • I love that train.

  • If I'm ever rich I'm hunting downn 10 of these in ment condishion and restoring them to rite out of the factory condishion. Why you ask, becuase I really want to have my own rail road on Long Island.

  • i've seen photos from there before. one hell of a spot to live next to the tracks.

  • @Toyboy789 It's not an -2 it's just a regular SD40, you can tell by looking at the wheel chassis.

  • is their anyone in the the cab of 3430?

  • That will give ya a hard on in a second

  • @o00o00ozy If it were a case of fouled bells, it'd be at least three fouled bells. I think the engineer just needed to put a bit more air into it. Nice catch having 5000 on the rear too.

  • Sounds like a Chicago Central horn I heard once.
