  • Thanks dear Leo, I've been waiting to hear this for a while. And I already knew what to expect.

Obviously her groupies will say she's an amazing Gilda.

I don't even need to comment much here. If one isn't deaf it's easy to understand what a terrible choice to sing this was.

And seriously, diction is perhaps the least worrying problem here.

  • LOL

none of them has access to the video^^ just take a look at the ratings XD

  • leoperarm, that's because they watch Manon`s daily bed scene...There isn't much time left to find other Netrebko videos...XD

  • Yeah... that scene has made a common woman become 'LA DIVINA' LOL!

  • I think, as most have said, that her problem is her repertoire. Having a big voice is not a problem to sing Gilda; Big-voiced sopranos have sung it (Callas, Moser, Sutherland). The problems here is the agility. i think she should sing Tosca, Mimi, Manon Lescaut: lyric parts; there she would shine.

  • @CaptFitzbattleaxe LOL! I know, right? Just cause you're pretty doesn't mean you should sing every aria there is.

  • Non capisco, perché perdere il tempo a intestardirsi su ruoli che non le appartengono e basta?

  • anna netrebko is a beautiful woman and marvelous singer

  • Wow! What a desecration of the aria! Netrebko is living proof that ample T&A will get you places, even in the world of opera. Why oh why doesn't she stay out of a repertoire that she has proven over and over again to be incapable of singing? As far as capable singers of coloratura are concerned, have a listen to Roberta Peter's live 1967 Met version of this aria which has recently appeared here. Marvelous!

My opinion.

  • frankly i think those who think it was all perfect singing in the golden age get it wrong. they , for a start didnt have endless recordings to mull over and pull to pieces...the odd great singer was few and far between...even as it is now.

  • @CaptFitzbattleaxe She has actually done that role very early in her career - Riga Independent Opera Avangarda Akadēmija, Riga, June 1994 :)

  • @AulendilElessar - I completely agree with you.

  • @piax00 You are so right - 30/40 years ago sopranos of this calibre would be considered also rans mostly engaged by minor houses or used as stand ins, how standards have been lowered!

  • @MrLupo23 - because Lucia is beyond her capabilities and at age forty she does not have a high Eflat any longer.

  • @CaptFitzbattleaxe ...................
