Why the top speed of S320 CDI with 197 hp engine and 6 cylinder in line is 225-230 km/h and top speed of new E220 CDI W212 with 170 hp and 4 cylinder in line is 230-240 km/h ?

I don't know but i on HIghway have 240 and when i ride longer i have done 250 (a little uphill)

But i have Facelift Modell

@guitigefilmpjes I'd say it's more to do with aerodynamics. The gearbox makes no difference, unless it's under- or very over-geared, and the weight has little effect on ultimate top speed.

@MercedesFUN1 olso the diesel on older days it's not that good as now. so with a good diesel you get more hp, more km/p, better randament and more mile per galon!
