  • @nWo24life Well said, congrats on the Cards by the way great team hopefully them and the Cats go deep in the tournament. Tubby was a great coach and class act Minnesota playing well this year. Good luck Minnesota and Cards fans. Ohhh yeah Go Cats

  • @ReuWil You are right on the money. Gillispie was just in over his head. I'm a Louisville fan, but it's no secret that being the UK coach is more than just standing on the sidelines. You have to have a certain charisma, with fans and the media, in addition to winning. If he had won more, his poor attitude would have been overlooked somewhat, but he really just didn't fit. Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, and John Calipari all work the media, fans, and win. Gillispie just wasn't in their league.

  • I constantly hear that, but I don't believe it... the facilities constructed, scholarships to athletes paid (and all of the additional "perks" they get), etc.

Besides, I'd rather pay higher tuition than have those unmotivated scholarship-holders on campus... some of them ain't too bright.

  • it's like that at all major universities. Besides, its sports that help bring in the money that these schools need.

  • @kycats06 Tubby Smith was a much better coach for UK than Gillispie...I don't know where you got that Gillispie made the team better...very low seed his first year of the tournament, then not making the tournament altogether the second year - not to mention he was a very poor ambassador for the program.

  • @amadeusyaoi No - a successful program will generate far more money for the university than what he is being paid.

  • $3.3 million a year for a basketball coach. A mega-ripoff of us students forced to pay through the nose to go here.

  • i believe you mean, congrats to UK for making the NIT!!!
