i never new my dad because he left my mom when i was one. about five years later my mom married a man that i consider my real father.today i m 17 years old and every time i listen to this song i look back and i have never wished for anything diffrent.i glad my dad came into my life. @TheCreativeNuisance My dad only spoke to me once about his time in WWII. It was when I was 12 and asked him why he never took me hunting like all my cousins did. He described how he threw up the first time he killed a man. He had to and he killed more, but he never touched a gun again when he came home and he gave his life in service to others. Like you Dad, he dared to be great, quietly. I love you, Dad.

@radar4100 Most will never understand the sacrifices made in war(& the resulting trauma from it)by good men like your father. I for one do & it fills my heart with pride & sadness.The scale and horror of WWII was so massively great. Its truly unimaginable for all but those who lived it. I thank god ordinary people like your father & my grandfathers, held such conviction in their honor & extraordinary courage in their hearts. Truly, they are the greatest generation to have lived. this song really makes me sad. i never got to know my father like i wanted to. he died when i was only a 7 year old little girl. its sad because i never got to talk to him as much as i should have and i barely remember his face even. :( this song touches me deeply. Dad, i miss you.

i love this song cuz it reminds me of my early years wen i was close to my dad, now im going to be 21, nd nothing feels quite the same as wen i was younger, sometimes i travel back to that time and just remember those times, now that im older, we see things differently, nd we bump heads alot, but i will always love my dad, no matter wat, i just hope he feels the same

@carpenterabc just let him know how much you love him, do things with him and never let him forget. let him know he can come to you with anything. I'm sure your a great father. I'm not one yet only 17 i know the hurt of not having a father in your life, the last time i spend time with my father i was 10 i'll never forget that day, just let him know how much you really love him.i'm sure your a great dad keep it up hard time in life being a teen!
