دخمه محلی است در چند کیلومتری جنوب یزد که در دوران گذشته و در دین زرتشت به عنوان گورستان روباز مردگان استفاده می گردیده.
افراد پس از مرگ در این ارتفاعات رها می گردیدند تا غذای پرندگان شوند و در این حالت پرندگان از آن تغذیه نموده و حتی گاهی اوقات استخوانها و تکه های جسد را با نقاط دور دست می بردند.
همه اینها و گرمای شدید آفتاب در این کویر سوزان پس از مدتی هیچ از جسد باقی نمی گذاشت.
این سنت اکنون دیگر در دین زرتشت صورت نمی پزیرد.

Yes , exactly ! because burial is the main source of environmental pollution , you contaminate soil and Groundwater by burning dead bodies without casket,..coffins themselves can be another source of environmental contamination and they also take up too much space ,even cremation can pollute the environment due to the large volume of released toxic gases and heavy metals into the atmosphere,as a result environmentalists r thinking about this ancient Iranian tradition as I write this :)
