...Yeah...every word I said went right over your empty head.

"It's not about a pre-set sound, it's about the sound of your guitar."
Wow, those words really nailed it. I have a Vox AC30 and your words really unlock the secret of that, or any, tube amp. I initially wanted a "Vox sound." But as you said, it really is about the sound of the guitar I plug in. My Vox makes my Telecatser sound incredible. It makes my Rickenbacker sound incredible. Essentialy my tube amp is doing what you said it should be doing: it is all about the sound of the guitar.

@42lynchmob that is sooooooo true. this guy is a total cliche tube douche snob. im a fan of both tube and solid state gear, and if you're a good player, you should be able to use both!

A real guitar player can make ANY thing sound decent.

I just want to say that there are some really great sounding solid state amps out there. (Line 6 NOT included...waaaayyy too complicated for my taste) The Marshall MG series has a good tone, good price, and doesn't have a clutter of useless effects and "models." It is also easier to get a good clean sound out of them. Sure tube amps are awesome, but lets not completely forget about solid state, because there are good ones out there.

People really do need to figure out how to work rectifiers. The tone stack is not the same most other amps, nobody seems to understand that no matter who they are. They have a ton of inherent bass which people tend to forget, and if you run any of the knobs, particularly gain and treble, you steal all the mids and the power in the lowend and it sounds like muddy shit. They have a bad rap from people who think they know their shit, because everyone who uses them is even more ignorant.

sounds very interesting. that's why i'm on here, is to learn and share. cool stuff.
You said the magic word "Organic". I've had a similar discussion about SS over tubes on the Carvin form some years ago. Tube amps are very physical and organic by nature. They like a living breathing being. SS amps do not have this ability as the entire signal is forced to go through solid matter. SS has the ability to sound good but when pushed to hard loose their tone. Tube amps when push to hard turn into magic ( -:

@HoosierLine
I like that analogy. You've gotta know how to stroke a tube amp to make it sing. That's exactly what this show will be all about.
