Contrary to what Jehovah's Witnesses believe (as well as many superficial observers of the group) the practice of baptism they adhere to simply isn't biblical.

  • There is a member of our circle who grew up in the JWs and was very active until she became a young adult. She subsequently left the JW. Now she feels that she wants to be un-baptized before she can move on. Do you think this is necessary or even possible? If it so, how would one go about being un-baptized?

  • @DancingRabbit52 I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as de-baptisms. Some atheists are on YouTube attempting to do this though (from any Christian based religion that has some kind of baptism) by mockingly using a hairdryer.

  • Yeah, I was never good enough to get baptized. They held it over my head like a carrot.

  • @anzwertree Are your family Witnesses anzwertree? Can't remember now.

  • I just wanted to say that when you said other churches will baptize quickly, this is not so.Baptist churches schedule a baptisim within 3 to 4 weeks after you take a membership class about the church,OR after your meeting with the assist.pastor. Also I agree it isn't biblical with the 130questions(not 80) I am a biblestudent& after studying the bible for a year& learning who God truly is ,I got baptised for God, not a membership like the baptist church .

  • niether is christmas but you will do that ,wont ya !! lol.....clown

  • @hilldiggity Just symbolism.

  • @Brucev7 I hope it actually says 12 x 12, cuz 12 + 12 would be pretty funny,

  • @hilldiggity 12 x 12, illustration of the 12 tribes of Israel is one explanation.

  • @DancingRabbit52 cont'd Not saying Baptism has anything to do with regeneration, only a following, an obedience to Christ. An identification, a picture. From what is inside shown outside and identifying also with the body of Christ, the Church.

  • @VAIO294 This was recently explained to me (before reading this), so I totally get it now. Jesus is the 'leader' of the 144,000 they believe will go to heaven and the WT/Jehovah is for everyone else. It's abundantly clear to me why JW's are not Christians now.
