Today there was the weekly protest
in Reykjavik.
The weather was good ,clear skies
,but extremenly cold -minus 4 on the celcius and windy.

In the end of the protest ,some proeters fired up some firworks behind the parliement building.
The police was very friendly - and
some used the time to get a photo op with the head police officer
in Reykjavik a mr. Geir Jon
So,it was a very peacful protest
.
People
aree still angry ,and the speakers demanded ,that the
govermnet stopgiving relatives and friends top jobs in the
govermnet.
They said that the corruption is in
the extreme here in Iceland.
Open goverment ,is what the people
want ,they said.

  • Worst is yet to come I think.

  • But do you see the light at the end of the tunnel??? Or is it still pretty bad??? And in case of shit hitting the fan, could you as an Icelandic citizen move to Denmark or Norway?? Or they won´t allow you?? Thanks man. I´m an Iceland Enthusiast. Hope to go there some day.

  • i didn't know the jews are spreading its wings to iceland. i know many jews politicians in america are fucking us badly here. we will be screwed. paul wolfowitz is an example. there are too many to name.

  • Perhaps you are right falconbach. I was abroad for a few weeks and came back a few days ago, and since I came back I could see that electronic equipment (DVD Players) was much higher than before.

  • Sorry but this is just BS nv821!

All imported products has gone up about 40% and more and electronic gear has doubled in price. Local produced products has also increased in price about 10-30%. Yes, the impact is direct and will probably become even worse in weeks and months to come.

Many people has also lost their jobs or taking 10% pay cuts.

We hope that the IMF loan will work but we have same people in power so we are not so optimistic these days!

  • Thanks for posting this video and updates. I pretty much have the same questions as machinenation. Again, thanks for the info., and stay safe.

  • No the prices have not sky rocketed. Most are about the same or have increased at most like 4-10%. Petrol prices have gone down actually.

  • Great work indeed. The media here in Ireland haven't been covering this as we're potentially about to suffer something similar over the next while.

Can you informa us about the day to day effects of this - are prices sky high ? Is the impact directly on food and food costs ? What do ordinary people think of the IMF loan ? Is it working ? What's the general mood like - it must be very depressed or are you still in shock ?

  • poor icelandic people. ordinary people are suffering but the politicians are giving out top jobs to their relatives. looks like we will face many protests here in america but many time more violence and massive. great work. i'm prepare for the riot and chaos coming to us. 2009 -2010 will be a turbulence time.

great work for informing us what going on in iceland.
