Hey Rusty here at McShane's in the water plant department and we're just going to take a minute to talk about what types of water plants we offer and why you need them in your pond.
Starting off here, we have floating water hyacinth, these work great for providing shade, which is something you definitely need in your pond is shade, you need to have about 60% of your pond covered by shade, it's the optimal amount. These do great, they float, they're cheap and they multiply. Just buy a few of them and you're good to go for a while.
Another great plant to provide some shade are water lilies, we have different size water lilies. They have the well known, classic lily pads as well as some pretty flowers that bloom. You can see a nice flower over there, there's a white one.
We also have a great selection of shelf plants. We have papyrus, iris, a variety of grasses and reeds. A lot of them are flowering. They also provide shade and if you have fish in your pond, the plants will use the fish waste as nutrients to feed the plants.
Come on down to McShane's for the best local selection of water plants in the whole area.
