Christianity is thus a Dictatorship! EXACTLY so true! I love that statement!

@gnossticc I might someday, but I'm not promising anything. Right now, I'm not bothered since it's night outside, and I need my sleep.
Also, I'd give my full support to Restituta if I lived during WWII. Any man or woman who fights against a regime is a great person--whether this regime is of a divine nature or not.

@flensdude Google this: Blessed Restituta tirelessly faught Nazi regime
-
@gnossticc Well, I gave you my interpretation of what I'd percieve as an "evil" norm. If you disagree with it, fine--we think differently. If I was being unclear about it, I can try to explain it more explicitly. If you don't care, well that's fine too.
Also, I did give you an answer about Sister Restitut if you were to pay it some attention.
And I'm not claiming religious persons are evil, it's their religion that is--some people actually choose to disregard the evil parts of their religion.
-
@flensdude Rubbish, just because a norm is followed because a book says so doesn't mean it's evil, logical thinking involved? Try reading the norms of different states and you'll find most absurd but not evil...I rest my case.
You never answered why Sister Restituta and other "religious" people who many times followed such mandates in the book that commands "evil" deeds of the catholic church were murdered by those same catholic nazis? Can you at least try?
-
@gnossticc Yes, we should refer to norms as evil if the only reason we follow them is because a book or something says so. If we cannot follow a logical argumentation as to why these norms are indeed good, then they probably are not good.
And I honestly do not know what you mean by: "[It's an] Absurd suggestion to say that religious persons are not evil just because they are religious [...]". Yes, yes it is! Did I say they couldn't be evil just because they're religious? No.

Hitchens is a terribly frustrating man. In matters of philosophy and religion, he is incredibly rational, and right. But in matters of economics and politics (he is a Socialist), he tosses that rationality aside, and becomes one of the faithful that he rails against. He never seems to ask himself how a society is supposed to produce abundance for itself when the human urge to produce is short-circuited by elimination of self-interest.
