Tiber River debris in low head

Ray and I were walking across the bridge heading over to see a ruin in Rome and the Tiber river near the Tiber Island had a series of low head dams. I thought this was interesting in such an odd way, being connected to water rescue, watching the colored plastic bottles and the children soccer balls all recirculating in the boil, the 'keeper' was keeping it all nice and tidy. We watched the tree trunks and debris compete for positioning, and I could think only of those who have been caught in low head dams and the horrific struggle. Not even a plastic bottle could find freedom. We had a wonderful time at our K38 International PWC Rescue Summit, and around Tiber island I saw a fantastic training area for a swiftwater rescue boat course, if only! Maybe next year..would be a good thing for the European Summit
