  • I discovered the joy of cutting bottles with my katana a few days ago. It really is the funnest pass-time ever! I ran out of bottles pretty quickly though :(

  • Tensa Zangetsu. nuff' said.

  • @skelanth Yeah, the antiques cost thousands. I'd much rather stick to modern ones, although, I would love to own at least one antique.

  • @MrTefached Oh, and thank you for mentioning the Koi Bamboo sword by Musashi! That's helped me a great deal in trying to find more in-expensive opportunities than the obscenely priced ones from history (rightfully so, of course). I really appreciate the information!

  • @MrTefached Ah, that blade is only $400... if you want to get something that was made by a master from the 17th century for example, then blades start at around $2000 and climb from there. For example, if you're looking for a blade by Kanesada (circa 1656) with official certification and all components, you are looking at in the tens of thousands of dollars. If you're curious about the authentic swords from history, refer to Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (NBTHK) for additional information.

  • @skelanth The most inexpensive full traditionally made katana I've been able to find is the Koi Bamboo sword by Musashi. Folded, laminated, and clay tempered blade.

  • @MrTefached Ah, thank you for correcting me! Certainly seems like a MUCH more reasonable number than 'hundreds'! The 'REAL' katana that I refer to for cost was the older ones and ones made by master craftsmen (I've seen some sell for over $47,000), but I wasn't aware of full-tang, forged and folded katana selling under $300! That's very cool and I'm going to have to do some hunting around! I would love a nice blade to add to my collection of steel! Thanks for the heads up! Greatly appreciated.

  • @skelanth Actually, "REAL" katana are folded 10-16 times :P And you can find reasonably decent katana (and sometimes exceptional) for under $300.

  • @Finitefox yes you are corect a tanto, wakizashi and Katana

  • @orochiThing I believe the smallest one is a tanto. But don't quote me. I could be wrong
