Great video. One error: Dr. Baruch was a fine Officer and Surgeon, but way too junior to be Surgeon General. His son was Roosevelt's financier, Bernard Baruch. The Surgeon General was Dr. Samuel Moore of Charleston.

Mrs. Phoebe Pember, also of Charleston, rates mention. She was a Matron at Chimborazzo Hospital, and wrote a book, "A Southern Woman's Story", in 1879 about her experiences. It's a classic.

You're correct, Dr. Baruch was not the Surgeon General, I must have picked up some misinformation in one of the sources listed, I should have looked into that deeper and I'll post the errors and corrections in the video description, I'll also mention Mrs. Pember.
