  • It's a bunch of woodden sticks. They are not sharp, but when these guys whip their own backs repeatedly, the skin eventually cracks and bleeds. But the wounds are not deep - they are rather bloody bruises than cuts.

  • they hit themselves like shiaa

  • poor fools harming themselves over false hope and for a fake deity its really sick and pathetic.

  • damn. goes to show that the mind is an extremely powerful thing.

  • Tama ka jan!

  • non sense type of argue hahah

  • im not religious, meaning i dont believe in a higher power or a god. but from a religious point of view i can understand what they are doing, the bible makes it quite clear that blood cleanses sin :P

  • yeah, right! you call yourself an atheist yet you very much sound like a "devout fanatic". you're a walking contradiction, mr. gay little liberal.

  • What a pity. This is plain ignorance of the Bible. The clergies notably the Roman Catholic Church sould explain that these acts are plain nonsense. Jesus Christ did the suffering and dying on the cross for our sins. Our part to complete our forgiveness from sins and earn the right to be saved is simply accept what the Lord has done for us.

  • the old testament is quite adamant about the importance of blood sacrifice.

the Torah enplanes that all life and sin is in the blood. (this is why it is forbiden to eat blood, as that would transfer whatever sins the creature had unto you)

there are traditions to take two goats on the day of atonement and sacrifice one before sprinkling the other goat with its blood, the priest/Rabi would "lay all the sins of Israel on the goat"

the people shed their blood because "sin is in (their) blood".

  • sorry, really late reply ^^'

i am in fact an atheist and quite litteraly one of those "gay little liberals", but i read the bible a lot along with all the other mayor religions (i am a former Lutheran protestant turned atheist).

but if you were to make the assumption that there is a god and the bible is his word, then i cant make any other assumption judging from the scriptures that god really loves blood and that these people would be religiously free from sin :P
