Another smooth guitar solo by Mike Zito, this time slide guitar, when he performed during birthday celebrations of Suzy from Crossroads cafe, on Sunday, March 20th, 2011. Check out the great tone Mike gets, when he plugs his Fender Telecaster into cafe proprietor Jan van der Stappen's Fender amp!

From the Mike Zito website:

Growing up in St. Louis, Mike Zito immersed himself in the gritty sounds of the south side. After receiving a Van Halen record at an early age, he took to the guitar immediately and jumped into the local music scene head first making a big splash as early as 19. With a crazed music lifestyle, addiction seeped into his life soon after. Zito was sliding downhill until Walter Trout pulled him aside to clarify his responsibility to his talent by performing honestly and unaffected. His lifestyle was taking a toll on his true passion and he drifted from it until ending up in Southeast Texas where he fell in love and found the support necessary to clean up and refocus back on music.

Coming into his true sound throughout those experiences, Zito emerged with his formative influences of such heroes as Eddie Van Halen, Prince and Jimi Hendrix and mixing in inspiration from the blues forefathers of B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, SRV and true friend, Walter Trout. His journey to sobriety has lead him to sharing the stage with legends Chuck Berry, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Delbert McClinton, and the list continues to grow.

In 2007, Zito inked a recording deal with boutique label, Eclecto Groove Records for his first studio recording titled "Today" produced by David Z. (Prince, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy, Etta James). With a nod from David Z. towards a unique acoustic take of "Little Red Corvette", Zito garnered instant radio recognition from Sirius Radio and national Triple A stations with an invitation to kick off the annual Radio & Records Triple A Radio Summit with an acoustic showcase for industry leaders. That launch into the airwaves has lead to continual airplay and live in-studio performances on Sirius' CoffeeHouse Live as well.

He's since followed up with a blues-influenced album that matches what audiences expect from his live electric performances. "Pearl River" submerged his guitar sound and songwriting with New Orleans' own gumbo of local musical legends among them, Cyril Neville (youngest of the Neville Brothers) co-writing the title track, resulting in a Blues Music Award for Song of the Year in 2010.

Now touring the world over, Mike is expanding his musical role and influence on others including producing albums for Germany's Ruf Records artists, Girls with Guitars and Samantha Fish. His songwriting efforts include noted partnerships with Cyril Neville, Gary Nicholson, Samantha Fish and Anders Osborne, who will be taking the producer helm for Zito's third recording "Greyhound" for Eclecto Groove in June 2011.

Mike Zito continues to share his musical journey with audiences around the US and Europe and to live by Walter Trout's inspiration of performing honestly every night of the year.
