Dorothy was World Number 1 in 1963 and comprehensively defeated Wyomia Tyas who won Gold at the 1964 Olympics. Dorothy unfortunately suffered injury during the 1963/4 winter which effectively ruined her Gold Medal chances.

Good run, must have been a stiff headwind with that time.
A pity Doreen Porter didn't get a mention, because no New Zealand sprinter has been as competitive since her silver.
